Crozier & Associates Receives 2017 Award of Excellence from the University of Guelph’s School of Engineering

November 17, 2017

Crozier & Associates is honoured to have been recognized by the University of Guelph’s School of Engineering with the 2017 Award of Excellence. This award recognizes groups and organizations which have supported the School of Engineering through hiring of co-op students and graduates, promotion of the School of Engineering, and research collaboration. A total of seven awards were given out at the awards ceremony held at the Atrium of the Thornborough Building at the University on November 16.

Chris Crozier, founder and Principal, and Nick Mocan, an Associate and Guelph alumnus, accepted the award on behalf of the company. Nick was the recipient of the Mid-Career Award from the School of Engineering in 2013, which recognizes alumni who have earned respect within the engineering community and show significant future promise. In 2014, he delivered the keynote address at the University’s Annual Symposium for graduate engineers. As part of his role at Crozier, Nick provides mentorship to our students, Engineers-in-Training (EITs), engineers and technologists, helping them grow personally and professionally and develop key skills for career success.

“Our Guelph engineering students and graduates have helped us build an innovative work culture at Crozier & Associates. They bring not only academic excellence to our organization, but a strong work ethic and versatile style of problem solving. We are fortunate to have such a strong relationship with the University of Guelph’s School of Engineering,” says Mocan.

Crozier & Associates has been a longstanding supporter of the University, participating in career fairs, judging capstone projects, offering co-op scholarships and regularly participating in networking events. Since the inception of Crozier & Associates in 2004, over 50 former and current students from the School of Engineering have enjoyed co-op terms and developed their engineering skills in our Collingwood, Milton and Toronto offices. In fact, almost 20% of the over 100 employees working at Crozier & Associates are graduates of the University of Guelph’s School of Engineering; two of whom are owners of the company.

As the company grows, Crozier & Associates is working to establish a deeper relationship with the School of Engineering which will extend beyond hiring co-op students and graduates. In an effort to facilitate academic and professional growth for the School and Crozier’s engineering graduates, Crozier has initiated plans to develop a standing academic/industry partnership through collaborative research in the area of stormwater management, particularly Low Impact Development (LID) techniques. This collaborative academic/industry research initiative will advance various aspects of the management of stormwater for land development in Ontario, and build upon the School’s remarkable track record of excellence in stormwater management research.
